Questions families ask

How much does an estate sale company charge?

Most US estate sale companies charge 30 to 45 percent of gross sales. Many set a minimum of 1,500 to 5,000 dollars in expected sales. Clear-out, advertising and card processing can be extra, so ask what the commission includes.

Is SecondGems free for families?

Yes. Companies pay SecondGems a small referral fee when they accept an introduction. It never comes off your settlement, and you are under no obligation to hire anyone we introduce.

How many companies will contact me?

At most three. We only introduce companies that serve your ZIP code and have room on their calendar. We never forward your details to every company that pays us.

How long does an estate sale take?

Companies usually need one to three weeks to price and stage, then run a two or three day sale. From first call to an empty house is typically three to five weeks.

When does the sale address appear?

Companies choose when the street address is published, usually the day before the sale opens. Until then, listings show the town and ZIP code only.
